With such incredible dogs, we know you want to tell us all about your furry friend! ;-) If you have visited DRR in person, you probably met Major (who is not related to any DRR puppies). This handsome boy was born ridgeless, but I'm constantly enamored by his regal stance--just look at that head, held high, and strong chest! Likely due to my early training style, we've come to call him the (grumpy) "old man." His obedience is only matched by his dislike for puppy playtime... but he sure loves, equally, charging at and snuggling with me. He's got the height so if there's a couch (or lap) nearby, he'll back it up and sit his bum on down just like his human friends. Major's newest challenge is sharing his mom with her new baby, Justice, since for so long he has been my only child. Check out Major throughout the years (since 2012), journeying from Chico, CA, to Layton, UT.

Gee Whiz RRs love to run! After all, they were originally bred to herd lions in South Africa. RRs love the sun, not so much the snow, and definitely not the rain!  RRs are notorious for their inability to play fetch—they will chase the ball for days… as long as it keeps moving. Common Care Our RR puppies are raised on IAMS Proactive Health Smart Puppy Large Breed food, however, we support your decision to fuel him/her with any complete and balanced formula that fits your family’s desires. Puppies burn more calories than adults, but as your pup gets older we recommend transitioning toward 2 cups of food, twice daily (that’s 4 cups each day). A qualitative assessment of a healthy-weight RR is the visibility of 2 ribs (if you can’t see those 2 ribs, they need a diet; if you see more than 2, try beefing them up a bit). While your RR craves exercise, he/she might not know his/her own strength. We highly recommend a humane gentle leader to allow you greater control (and less risk of unintentional human injury) when out on excursions.
